St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School is a Jesuit-run institution located near Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya. It was established in January 2004 by Fr. Terry Charlton, SJ, and members of the Christian Life Community (CLC) Kenya. The school was founded to provide quality, holistic education to bright orphans and vulnerable youth affected by HIV/AIDS, particularly those from the Kibera slum.
Initially, the school opened its doors to 56 students—35 in Form One and 21 in Form Two—operating from rented space in a local primary school. Recognizing the need for a dedicated facility, construction of a new campus began in May 2009, and the school moved to its permanent location in June 2010.
St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School operates under the Jesuit tradition, emphasizing academic excellence, character formation, and service to others. The school's motto, “To Learn, To Love, and to Serve,” reflects its commitment to nurturing students who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible.
Over the years, the school has grown significantly. As of 2025, it has graduated over 970 students, with more than 800 having completed tertiary education. The school continues to support its alumni, with 202 graduates currently pursuing further studies in universities, diploma, or certificate programs.
St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary School stands as a beacon of hope, providing transformative education to marginalized youth and empowering them to break the cycle of poverty. We welcome you to partner with us and donate to support the vulnerable youths and orphans to acquire education.
